Lombard Scotch Whisky was established in
the 1960s when the company began to lay down fillings at the
distilleries and hold, mature and bottle from its own stocks.
Through a connection with the family brewery business, Lombard
entered the market as suppliers of bulk whisky when brewers
bottled Whisky in addition to bottling Beer. Administration
was established on the Isle of Man (an old Scottish isle between
Ireland and Scotland) and a stock base developed.
Single Malt Scotch Whisky was
not the category it is today. Single malts were bought and
sold based on what was most acceptable to the distiller (each
having their own recipe for the continuity of taste). Lombard
was supplying major organisations with whisky, which they
would bottle as their own. |
