Pebble Beach
Located on the Californian coastline,
breathtaking and dramatic Pebble Beach is one of golf’s most
scenic courses. The trademark Lone Cypress Tree is one of the most
photographed landmarks in North America.
Situated on the shores of the spectacular
Monterey Peninsular, Pebble Beach has acquired an aura of mystique
and romance – an image harvested in the “Roaring Twenties”
by the film-stars and former US Presidents. Today these aspirations
are further enhanced by the annual Concours d'Elegance - considered
to be one of the most prestigious showcases of the world's finest
classic automobiles.
As
a golf course of legendary status, the picturesque signature
hole of Pebble Beach is the par3, 7th. As the shortest hole
in major championship golf, it is recognised yard for yard,
to be the hardest ! Host to the U.S. Open Championship on
four past occasions, Pebble Beach has some dramatic finishing
holes and a reputation for presenting memorable events.
It is scheduled to next host the U.S. Open in 2010.
Pebble
Beach has been called "the greatest golf course in
the world" and arguably touted as "the greatest
meeting of land and water." Pebble Beach is accessible
to all and an experience to savour at least once in a lifetime.
